For only the ninth time in UFC history, a fight was ended by disqualification on Saturday night when Akira Corassani absorbed an illegal knee from Maximo Blanco early in the first round of their fight.

It was the third time that referee Mario Yamasaki has been involved in a UFC disqualification. Yamasaki also disqualified Erick Silva and Ricardo Almeida in previous events. He's the first person to referee three UFC disqualifications. Only Steve Mazzagatti has also refereed more than one UFC disqualification.

Herb Dean has refereed the most fights inside the Octagon during the Zuffa-era UFC (389 fights), however he has yet to disqualify a competitor in one of his fights.
